Welcome!
My name is Seana Berglund. I am a student midwife, artist, photographer, labor doula, and above all else, a mother. My interest in birth began at age 10. I pored over books and stories, anything I could get my little hands on related to embryology, pregnancy, birth and newborns. I was amazed and humbled by the mysterious inner workings of our bodies, and the incredible gifted ability we as women have at bringing forth vigorous, perfectly formed life from simple seeds. .At age 11 I witnessed my mother birth my twin sisters, naturally and with minimal intervention. I completed my doula training in April of 2007 with Debbie Merritt-Bruflat, and am currently an apprentice home birth midwife under the wise and gifted Claudette Coughenour, CPM, and AnneMarie Russo, CPM, LM, I have grown, birthed, and nourished at the breast two beautiful daughters, one brought earthside in water, the other frank breech at home. I have overcome many obstacles in my life to get where I am today, including birth trauma, postpartum depression and OCD, lactation crisis, poverty, abuse, and fear. I have an intimate understanding of how these elements can interfere with the birthing process, and have many tools to help rise above them. I believe every woman should have the birth she desires, and deserves. I focus on decreasing fear and increasing knowledge of nutrition, intuition, and your body's amazing physiology! I have a very tender place in my heart for teen mamas, and those bucked by the system for not fitting in the box. I am a mythbuster and activist at heart. I firmly believe in gender equality, and the right to an intact body.
